Monday, May 3, 2021

St. John the Baptist Parish – Today, St. John the Baptist Parish President Jaclyn Hotard and Council Members Lennix Madere, Tonia Schnyder, Michael Wright and Warren Torres joined LA Contracting Enterprise Project Manager Quentin Landry for a groundbreaking ceremony to mark the beginning of major drainage improvement projects.

These important projects consist dredging and excavation of Vicknair, Haydel and Woodland Canals to remove sediments and debris allowing for better flow and flood control.

President Hotard addressed attendees noting, “Drainage remains one of the top priorities of my Administration. We look forward to completion of this project and continuing to implement other improvements Parishwide.”

Councilwoman Tonia Schnyder added, “On behalf of District 6, I want to thank the Administration and Council for making this project happen. It is a long time coming and will definitely benefit residents.”

The contractor is scheduled to start on Vicknair Canal and proceed to Woodland and Haydel Canals with anticipated project completion for 4 to 6 months, weather permitting.
