Scheduling a Ride

RPTA BusPassengers may call the local office number 985-651-1141 to schedule a ride. Phone lines are open 8:30AM-5:00PM, Monday-Friday and 8:30AM-1:30PM Saturday. Speak to a dispatcher who will assist callers in scheduling a trip. Please leave a message if there is no answer. RPTA is encouraging the public to schedule non-work related trips between 9:00AM and 3:30PM. This will help the RPTA increase efficiency in transporting persons to and from job sites during early morning and late afternoon hours.

Reasonable Modifications/Accommodations Procedures

Wheelchair PassengerThe driver of each vehicle will assist the boarding and unboarding of wheelchair passengers in operating the lift, securing the wheelchair and depositing fares. No fare will be assessed to a personal care attendant (PCA) who is traveling with an eligible elderly and/or disabled person who cannot ride by themselves. Persons scheduling such a trip must let the dispatcher know that the PCA will also be riding.

Civil Rights

The River Parishes Transit Authority (RPTA) prohibits discrimination and ensures equal opportunity for persons with disabilities in transportation in accordance with the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA); operates services without regard to race, color, and national origin in accordance with Title VI of the Civil Rights Act; and follows Executive Order 13166 in identifying and engaging Limited English Proficiency (LEP) populations to ensure their involvement and knowledge of transportation planning and projects in and around their communities.

ADA – Title II of the Americans with Disabilities Act of 1990 prohibits discrimination and ensures equal opportunity for persons with disabilities in employment, State and local government services, public accommodations, commercial facilities, and transportation. In accordance with these requirements the RPTA will not discriminate against qualified individuals with disabilities on the basis of disability in RPTA’s services, programs or activities.

Title VI – RPTA operates its programs and services without regard to race, color, and national origin in accordance with Title VI of the Civil Rights Act.

LEP – The RPTA follows Executive Order 13166 in identifying and engaging Limited English Proficiency (LEP) populations to ensure their involvement and knowledge of transportation planning and projects in and around their communities. An LEP person is defined as one who does not speak English as his or her primary language and has a limited ability to read, write, or understand English.

Any person who believes that he or she, individually, or as a member of any specific class of persons, has been subjected to discrimination on the basis of race, color, or national origin (Title VI), or on the basis of disability (ADA), or on the basis of limited ability to read, write, or understand English (LEP) as noted below may file a written complaint with the River Parishes Transit Authority, 149 Woodland, Laplace, LA 70068. If you have questions about service, lost and found, complaints, commendations or suggestions, please call the RPTA Transit Office at 985-651-1141 weekdays between the hours of 8:30 a.m. and 5:00 p.m.


The service will be provided Monday through Friday for trips scheduled between 5:00 a.m. and 7:30 p.m.

The service will be provided Saturday for trips scheduled between 5:30 a.m. and 7:30 p.m.

There is no service on Sundays or the following public holidays: New Years Day, Martin Luther King Day, Mardi Gras Day, Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving Day, and Christmas Day.


The fare for a one-way trip on the RPTA is $2.00. Children 4 and under ride free. Drivers will accept EXACT FARE ONLY. Drivers will not carry cash or make change. Each bus is equipped with a fare box and the exact fare must be deposited prior to the passenger taking his or her seat.


Ask your driver about participating in the RPTA Pass Program. Participants are entered to win a free pass booklet! Winners are randomly selected once a month at the RPTA Board Meetings.
