Changes from previous update: 

GARBAGE

  • Parish President Hotard takes extraordinary, emergency actions to rid Parish of abnormally high volumes of waste.
  • In response to mounting garbage, Parish President Hotard Issues Emergency Household Waste Bid.
  • Bids will be opened Sunday, September 19, 2021, at 9:45 a.m.
  • Parish President Hotard is also in the process of executing agreements to increase disposal capacity.
  • Additionally, our residential waste vendor will continue to pick up daily; however, the increased amount of waste and other challenges created by Hurricane Ida called for emergency action.
  • “My main priority right now is getting the trash off the street for our residents; therefore, taking emergency actions were necessary,” said Parish President Hotard. “I want to thank residents for their patience and cooperation as we work to get all garbage collected.”

 

Debris Removal

  • 147,000 cubic yards of debris has been collected so far.
  • Do not place debris on fire hydrants, water meters, trees, or mailboxes.

  • 16,726 individuals applied

    Aerial Mosquito Spraying Rescheduled

  • Scheduled for this evening Friday, September 17, 2021, at approximately 7:00pm, weather dependent and will continue until about 1:00 am. The aerial application may take 3 days to complete

    Water/Sewer

  • We remain under a Boil Water Advisory Parishwide.
  • Please limit non-essential sewer usages.

    POD tarps, water, and ice from 8am-5pm at Wallace Fire Station & REGALA Gym.

    Elderly Assistance for St. John residents 

  • Call 985-536-4955 from 8am-5pm daily.

    Damage Assessment

    • Members of the Louisiana Floodplain Management Disaster Recovery Team in neighborhoods with the Planning and Zoning Department to assess damage to properties in flood zones AE and VE.

Safe Reconnect of Utilities

Temporary Housing Executive Order

  • Allows for placement of one RV, travel trailer or other similar form of temporary housing to be placed on a single-family residential site through August 29, 2022.

Roads

  • Highway 51 low road & LA 44 near Cargill remains closed.

Curfew
