Coastal and Water Management

Overview

The Coastal and Water Management Division of the St. John the Baptist Parish Department of Planning and Zoning is dedicated to coordinating responsible development and the restoration of our Parish's most valuable natural resource—our wetlands.

Our division collaborates with a variety of state and federal agencies, as well as private landowners, to facilitate funding, permitting, and the construction of coastal restoration projects throughout St. John Parish and our surrounding watersheds.

Key Services:

  • Coastal Restoration Projects: Working on the preservation and restoration of wetlands and coastal areas, ensuring that projects align with environmental sustainability goals.
  • Permitting & Compliance: Coordinating with state and federal agencies to ensure projects meet required environmental standards and regulations.
  • Floodplain Management:  Ensuring development in the Special Flood Hazard Areas meets local and federal standards and coordinating the Parish's Community.
