Zoning Board of Adjustments

Overview

The St. John the Baptist Parish Zoning Board of Adjustments is responsible for regulating and restricting various aspects of land use within the parish, including the height and size of structures, lot occupancy percentages, open spaces, population density, and the location and use of buildings and land for trade, industry, residence, or other purposes. This regulation aims to promote the health, safety, morals, and general welfare of the community. The board has the authority to grant variances or modifications to zoning regulations when strict adherence would result in practical difficulties or unnecessary hardships, ensuring that the spirit of the ordinance is observed and substantial justice is done.

The Zoning Board of Adjustments holds regular meetings to discuss and make decisions on matters related to zoning and land use. These meetings are open to the public and take place in the Parish Council Chambers at 1811 W. Airline Highway, LaPlace, LA 70068, starting at 5:30 p.m..
