Backflow Prevention Program

In accordance with mandates established by the Louisiana Department of Health and Hospitals (DHH), St. John the Baptist Parish has developed a Cross Connection Control and Backflow Prevention Program. This program is for the benefit of all St. John the Baptist Parish water customers and is being implemented to protect the public water supply from accidental contamination. In using the minimum guidelines established by DHH, the Parish has identified certain customers that will be required to have backflow preventers installed on their premises. Notifications will be sent to those customers requiring backflow preventers. Compliance is mandatory according to DHH regulation and failure to comply may result in discontinuance of potable water to your premises.

In accordance with state regulations, installation, inspection and testing of these devices is the responsibility of the customer. Backflow prevention program packets are available in our Planning and Zoning Department located at 102 E. Airline Highway in LaPlace. Each packet includes all of the necessary information required to comply with the state and parish regulations.

Please be assured that the water being provided to residents of St. John the Baptist Parish is of the highest quality available and complies with all federal and state standards. The goal of this cross connection and backflow prevention program is to assure that the water remains safe from accidental contamination.
