11 More Canals Getting Cleaned. $1.14 Million More in Grant Dollars

Published on August 07, 2025

We’re clearing trees and debris from 11 major drainage canals — including Bourgeois, Angeline, Dupont, Hope, Sugar Mill, McReine, and more — with $1.14 million in new federal funding from the Natural Resources Conservation Service.
This marks our third NRCS grant and another major step toward reducing flood risk and strengthening long-term resilience.
“We’re continuing to invest in long-term flood protection and recovery for our community,” said Parish President Hotard.
This project is part of President Hotard’s parish-wide infrastructure improvement initiative.
✅ More recovery. More resilience. More to come.
