Parish President Jaclyn Hotard joined U.S. Energy Secretary Jennifer Granholm, Pastor Neil Bernard of New Wine Christian Fellowship, Greater New Orleans Sports Foundation, Together Louisiana, and many partners and supporters to celebrate the completion of a Community Lighthouse that will serve residents during disasters in St. John Parish.

The new Community Lighthouse at New Wine Church is the largest network of solar+storage resilience hubs that will span the entire state.
During extended power outages, the lighthouses will immediately assess need and aid area residents. They will provide cooling and heating stations, charging stations, food distribution, oxygen exchange, light medical equipment, and other critical services.

“Today, we are one step closer to continuing to ensure the safety of residents during times of emergencies and disasters,” said Parish President Hotard. “I am so grateful to the Department of Energy, Pastor Bernard, and all involved for their steadfast commitment to the Community Lighthouse Project and know through this partnership, we will provide for a more resilient St. John for many years to come.”
