Parish President Hotard Unveils West Bank Drainage Plan

Comprehensive roadmap follows strong community input and prioritizes infrastructure improvements

Following a well-attended and productive community meeting, Parish President Jaclyn Hotard has officially unveiled the West Bank Stormwater Master Drainage Plan; one of the most comprehensive efforts in decades.

The plan delivers a bold, data-driven strategy to reduce flood risk, improve drainage systems, and strengthen long-term resilience across the region.

“This plan reflects exactly what we’ve heard from our residents. It’s shaped by real conversations and backed by real solutions,” said President Hotard. “Our commitment is clear: protect families, safeguard property, and invest in a safer, stronger future for every corner of St. John Parish.”

The plan evaluates the entire drainage system, from culverts to canals, to identify gaps, reduce vulnerabilities, and recommend practical solutions. It builds on current projects, including canal excavations, and outlines priority improvements, several of which are already underway.

Public input will continue to shape the next phase of this critical work, and residents can expect ongoing updates and opportunities to stay involved.
