St. John Parish Encourages Residents to Prepare for Hurricane Season
Published on June 01, 2026
Hurricane season officially began on June 1, and St. John Parish is encouraging residents to take proactive steps now to prepare for potential tropical weather.
While seasonal forecasts can provide guidance, it only takes one storm to impact our community. Residents should review their emergency plans, ensure they have at least 72 hours of essential supplies, and stay informed throughout the season.
Households are encouraged to stock up on necessities such as water, non-perishable food, medications, batteries, fuel, and copies of important documents. Preparing in advance can help reduce stress and improve safety before, during, and after a storm.
Residents should also check their mailboxes for the 2026 St. John Parish Hurricane Brochure. The updated guide includes a 10-Step Hurricane Game Plan, business preparedness information, disaster supply kit recommendations, emergency contact numbers, evacuation resources, and safety information for every stage of a storm.
The brochure is also available online and can be viewed at the link below.
St. John Parish encourages all residents to prepare early, stay informed, and remain vigilant throughout the 2026 hurricane season.
