Shoutout to Michelle Jenkins Miller, Economic Development Director, for representing St. John Parish at the Keep Louisiana Beautiful (KLB) State Conference!
She co-led a breakout session on environmental education, sharing how KLB’s Love the Boot Week initiative can be brought into classrooms with hands-on recycling activities.
As part of Love the Boot Week, St. John Parish expanded cleanup efforts by engaging students in stewardship activities. Parish President Hotard met with the John L. Ory Green Team to discuss anti-littering and recycling, and for the first time, she and her staff visited local schools to read about recycling and encourage students to inspire their families and peers to keep our community clean.

We’re proud that these efforts were recognized with an award from Lt. Governor Nungesser’s Office, and we look forward to building on this success by empowering even more young residents and students to be leaders in keeping St. John Parish clean and beautiful.
