St. John the Baptist Parish Parks and Recreation Sports Coordinator Errol Manuel was recently honored with the Jr. NBA/Jr. WNBA League of the Year Award while attending The Next Play Summit by RCX Sports, held in Orlando, Florida.

The Next Play Summit is a national conference that brings together youth sports operators, partners, and professional league leaders for meaningful discussions, practical solutions, and collaborative learning.

Conference attendees heard from prominent leaders advancing the future of sports, including Troy Vincent Sr., the National Football League's Senior Vice President of Football Operations, Ice Cube, of the BIG3, and representatives from the NFL, NBA, MLS, NHL, MLB, and USTA. Discussions focused on innovation, access, leadership, and sustainability in youth sports.

Mr. Manuel’s League of the Year Award recognizes excellence in youth sports programming and is a testament to the strong working relationship within the Parks and Recreation Department, as well as the dedication and commitment of its volunteer coaches.

“This award is a testament to our department’s strong working relationships and the volunteer coaches who make our programs possible,” said Manuel. “Their dedication and passion for our youth are what truly drive the success of our league.”

St. John the Baptist Parish’s recognition at the summit underscores its continued commitment to providing quality, accessible sports opportunities for local youth.
