St. John the Baptist Parish Water Systems Receive “A” Rating

The Louisiana Department of Health (LDH) recently released ratings of state water systems, and all St. John the Baptist Parish water systems received an “A” rating. According to LDH, only 41 percent of the state’s 951 water systems received A ratings.

St. John the Baptist Parish received a rating of 104% for Water District #1 (Reserve, Garyville & Mt. Airy), 100% for Water District #2 (West Bank), 100% for Water District #3 (LaPlace) and 97% for the Pleasure Bend Water District. Additionally, all St. John systems received bonus points for having proper planning for asset management and maintenance.

“Receiving all A’s across all St. John water systems is a testament to the hard work by our team," said Parish President Jaclyn Hotard. "We will continue to be laser-focused on making improvements that will sustain our water and waste-water systems for many years to come.” The ratings are based on a variety of factors, including water quality, operation and maintenance, infrastructure, financial sustainability and more.

The water grades were required under Act 98 of the 2021 Regular Session of the Louisiana Legislature, known as the Community Drinking Water Accountability Rule. For more information, visit https://ldh.la.gov/page/4815. ###
