St. John the Baptist Parish is currently under a Tropical Storm Watch. Residents are encouraged to stay informed and monitor weather conditions as they continue to develop.
Showers and thunderstorms are expected to develop this afternoon, especially along and west of the I-55 corridor. A few storms could become strong this evening, bringing the potential for heavy rainfall, strong to damaging wind gusts, and small hail. While less likely, a brief tornado cannot be ruled out. The primary threats remain gusty winds and locally heavy rainfall.
Residents are encouraged to remain weather aware, especially if traveling or participating in outdoor activities. Continue monitoring trusted weather sources and be prepared to seek shelter if warnings are issued.
